Last weekend I hosted a fall-inspired dinner party for my family. There were twelve of us that got together and the company, menu, and decor was pretty great. While I was the main host of the party, my family is really great in that they always offer to chip in to help. I’ve learned years ago to accept help and just appreciate it, versus trying to do everything myself.

This party was sponsored by Food Should Taste Good, as part of my brand ambassadorship with them over the past couple months. If you recall, I’ve posted a couple really tasty dips to accompany their fantastic chips including this easy greek dip and this blt-inspired queso dip.

barn

My younger brother Joel got married last Saturday to his awesome wife Katie. They hosted a fun, beautiful, rustic barn wedding on a farm in Wisconsin. The hope was for an outdoor ceremony but the weather had other plans. It literally down poured for hours as well as insane wind, but you know what? The ceremony inside the barn was just as beautiful as ever. And despite the weather, the day really was perfect in every way.

Joel and Katie were happy, laid back, just thrilled to be getting married to each other. And they kept their eye on the big picture. I admire them so much for that because I know had it have been me, I’m not sure I would have been able to hold my cool.

Their wedding really turned out to be the best day.

Tea partyThis post is a week late but better late than never, right? And I really think this postwas worth waiting for. I love all the bright, colorful photos…the bright, femininity of it all.

In my opinion, there isn’t a whole lot better than sitting around the table with family, sipping tea (or mimosas) and noshing on tea party fare. My mom is especially a big fan of tea sandwiches so I thought it was a perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day.

We kept things relatively simple with store-bought desserts, minimal decor and potluck style food. Everything turned out delicious and most importantly, we all had a great time.

Tea partyI’m having a pretty normal work week but have been catching up on sleep big time. I put Juliet to bed by reading books to her (she always insists on reading “a looooot of books”) and then I lay with her until she falls asleep. This is a habit we started when she was around one and a half and have not been able to break. I’ll try to leave before she is asleep and she’ll awake immediately and hold her arms out and say “come back” and “momma lay down!!!”. Sometimes I end of falling asleep with her and wake up around 9ish super disoriented. A few times this week I actually fell asleep and never woke up until morning. So I chalked it up to needing the sleep and appreciated those nights I got 10+ hours.

Even though this week is back to normal hours wise for work, I’m still really glad that it’s Friday. I’m so excited for the weekend. Juliet and I are having all the ladies in my family over for a tea party on Saturday morning. We can’t all be together on Mother’s Day so we are celebrating a day early.

So the tea party….well, I’m pretty excited. You all know how much I love brunch and add a tea party theme and I’m totally in my element.

Tres leches cakeThe Mexican Fiesta co-ed shower was awesome last weekend. My sister-in-law to be’s family hosted a great party. My sister Katie and I chipped in with margaritas, decor and tres leches cake. My favorite part of the shower was the nacho bar. I didn’t take a photo of it but I sure ate enough nacho cheese to last me a while (uh, why is that stuff so damn good?!). read more

My younger brother, Joel and his fiance, Katie are having a co-ed shower (basically just a huge party) on Saturday with a Mexican fiesta theme. Both sides of the family are helping out to make the shower a success. Here are the items I am helping with (along with my sister):

Decorations which will include:
